Army chief Naravane to inaugurate war memorial for Indian soldiers in Italy, also visiting UK

New Delhi: With the aim of further strengthening the military ties between the forces, the head of the Indian army, General MM Naravane, is embarking on a four-day tour of the United Kingdom and Italy from July 5.

During his first leg of the trip, General Naravane will visit the United Kingdom, where he will meet their Chief of Defense Staff, their Chief of the General Staff, the Minister of State for Defense , among others. Linked by strong historical ties, India and the UK share a modern partnership.

In 2004, the bilateral relationship became a strategic partnership.

The army chief will begin his tour of Italy on July 7, during which he will unveil an Indian army memorial in the town of Cassino.

During World War II, more than 5,000 Indian soldiers made the supreme sacrifice in the Battle of Monte, fighting against fascist forces.
During his stay in Italy, he will meet the Chief of Staff of the Armies and the Chief of Staff of the Italian Army.
