Mr Giannini is said to have worked as a pizza maker in the town and is from south-east Italy.

One person said they still have all the memories of Carlo from all their great years together, including when they met in the summer in Torre Lapillo.

They described Carlo as light-hearted and the “leader of the group” on those hot summer days.

They also added that Carlo left but earned a special place in society.

Another added: “So many memories of maybe a better age…carelessness…wanting to have fun just being together…there are no words…other than RIP Carlo.”

Another added: “I still can’t believe it.”

South Yorkshire Police previously said they had yet to formally identify the man after he was called to the scene at 5am on Thursday.

Anyone with information, who has seen or heard of suspicious activity around the park between last Wednesday evening and last Thursday morning, or who may have useful CCTV footage, is asked to call police on 101, quoting the incident number 122 of May 12.
